01

Pulls in free heat

A quiet fan draws in surrounding air — even cool garage air at 50°F is full of usable heat. It passes over the evaporator, where refrigerant soaks that warmth up.

02

Compresses it hotter

The compressor squeezes the refrigerant gas, concentrating the captured heat and driving its temperature past 160°F — far hotter than the air it came from.

03

Heats your water

That hot refrigerant flows through the condenser coil wrapped around the tank, releasing its heat into the water. The refrigerant cools and loops back to start again.

04

Backup only when needed

Because it moves heat instead of burning gas, it runs up to 4× more efficiently. Electric elements add a boost only during heavy demand — zero emissions, rebate-ready.
