BAAQMD has adopted zero-NOx standards for certain new water heaters, and additional amendments are currently under consideration. Requirements and effective dates vary by equipment type and may change. The BAAQMD Board is scheduled to consider Rule 9-6 amendments on November 4, 2026. If approved, they would add some exemptions and extend the compliance date.
